Thank you to everyone who participated in our See Jane Do Soiree into Action: Women Build Together with Nevada County Habitat for Humanity. Last night over 70 women and men came together and created 7 teams and built 13 bird houses to be auctioned off! It was inspiring to see women pounding nails, using power tools and working as teams.
This specific Women Build project is supporting the completion of Karrie Misley's house. Karrie is a recipient of a Habitat for Humanity home. We were deeply moved as Karrie shared her story last night. As a single mom who left a domestic violent situation she said she has spent many years re-building her life but now with the help of NC Habitat and our community she is actually building a life....a new beginning.
The birdhouses built last night will be painted by art students at the Center for the Arts this summer and auctioned off later this year.
If you were not able to attend the Soiree it's not too late to participate.

"Women Build Together" is an initiative that empowers women to roll up their sleeves to help solve the poverty housing issue faced by women & children today. Women teams work with experts to learn construction skills and use those skills to build a Habitat home.
