You're invited to our summer Soiree into Action! We are thrilled to unveil our new interactive, open-source website and Extraordinary Jane campaign.
Since you are a key part to the success of the program we hope you will
join us and celebrate Extraordinary Janes making waves in new media.
The event is free and takes place at Sierra Commons, Nevada County's business incubator on Thursday, June 24th, 2010 from 6:00-8:30 PM. Beverages and appetizers are provided along with live music by the dynamic duo, Maggie and Luke Wilson.
Joining See Jane Do at the summer soiree is freelance writer/blogger/editor Jessica Reeder and magazine publisher Mayumi Elegado to discuss women in media.
Did you know that women are not reading the news? Traditional news that is! 61% of women do not read the newspaper, but the doesn't mean they don't care or aren't interested in the news, they are creating their own media. One that speaks to their needs. 42 million US women are using social media weekly. 36 million women are blogging. In fact, women between the ages of 35-50 are the fastest growing segment of social media users.
See Jane Do is redefining information sharing for women through the bridging of traditional media with new media; streaming radio, linking video to webisodes and connecting people from a virtual world back to a regional one.
Unlike other websites geared towards women, which mostly covers entertainment, beauty and some women's issues, See Jane Do takes current news topics women are concerned about and creates a personal story with a reason to care. We are creating a free-flowing connection of important information that will help readers make intelligent, informed decisions about our individual and collective futures.
It is an exciting time for women and media. Celebrities have platforms and politicians have platforms. See Jane Do provides a platform for you and other everyday women doing extraordinary things for the planet. Learn how you can utilize your voice to make a difference and share the stories of others.
We look forward to seeing you at the event!
